Keep Watch
Keep Watch Over Your Children
The Lawnton Aquatic Centre is a "Keep Watch" facility, which means that there are guidelines that must be followed while visiting the centre.
Children Under 5
Must be constantly supervised and remain within arm's reach. If the child is in the water, the parent/guardian must be in the water too.
Children 10 and Under
Must be accompanied into the facility and constantly supervised by a parent/guardian 18 and over. The parent/guardian must have a clear view of the child at all times.
Important Facts
The supervision of children in aquatic facilities is not the sole responsibility of lifeguards.
Lifeguards are employed on a 1:100 ratio; this is based on the expectation that parent will provide direct supervision of children.
Parents are required to provide constant and direct supervision needed for young children.
